What is the Score to Lower?
We define your score to lower as the score needed to lower your handicap to the next lower integer.
If you are a 16.3 (16 rounded) it is the score that will make you a 15.4 (15 rounded). If you are a 16.6 (17 rounded), it is the score that will make you a 16.4 (16 rounded). Because of this definition, in some cases your score to lower can be quite low.
Because the score needed to lower your handicap is forward looking, we make several assumptions (about the upcoming course difficulty) to calculate
the number shown on your scorecard. If the actual course you play is significantly easier or harder than those that you have played in the past,
your actual score to lower will vary. Below we provide the exact score to lower that will be required (on your next round) for courses you have played in the past.
The number of courses displayed is determined by the setting you chose on your
Preferences page.
We do not provide the score (on your next round) needed to raise your handicap, because in most cases, no matter what you shoot on your next round,
your handicap will not rise.
